Science does not prove the absence of God. It shows how many natural phenomena Satan has deceived mankind into thinking he has dominion over. Either he or Man, it matters not which. For if either believes their knowledge allows them to stand alone, Man will fall. Satan has already been given sentence. It is his attempt to tell Man his has been pronounced as well. But Man’s fate is never sealed because of the action of Christ’s sacrifice.
And so we may see the most fundamental lie of the enemy—darkness. The enemy lays claim to this ephemeral realm and tells Man that within it lurks all his fears and anxieties. Man is taught to fear the darkness because it could no possibly bring forth anything but trouble—a place best left alone. A sanctuary for evil, where no good doth dwell. A place that reminds Man of the consequence of his greatest betrayal unto love—death.
Yet there is also another tale to be woven amidst this lie. Science will help rather than hinder in this endeavor. If it is true that darkness is ‘real’ is it not also true that one only knows of it due to how much light is present within one’s sphere of vision? Is it not so that darkness always gives way to light? So what is this realm the enemy supposedly reigns over? One that will be ever shrinking until it is no darkness at all but only varied shades of light, half-light, and dimness giving way to that which our physical eye can no longer penetrate? And there is the rub. It is within this intellectual soil that the enemy plants his seed of doubt: darkness must not be a place of God and His righteousness because we cannot see into such a space. This implies that if God were truly good and benevolent, He would allow His creation to view Him in any light, as it were. Even a dark light. As if Man’s ability were the measure by which God is in fact a supreme being, caring for our souls by way of His providence because our need presses Him to give of Himself in such a manner.
However, by the very science that the enemy seeks to use to make us doubt God’s goodness, may we also be hesitant to accept his own claim of ownership of this darkness. One way to think of this ‘un-light’ is that it swallows light, that light has no dominion in its presence. There is another argument that posits, we only knew what darkness first was due to the light that came into being. This has given way to what is called the scientific theory of light. This is strengthened when one realizes that there is no theory of darkness, only as much to say that it is the space in which there is the absence of light. This reminds us of concepts named hot and cold, in which the concept of ‘cold’ does not really exist or have being. Cold is merely the absence of heat. Could it be also that darkness does not really exist either and is only the absence of something other that itself? This is not faith-based postulating. This is using scientific reasoning to make a point.
Therefore, is it not possible that the very medium the enemy of Man claims to use in order to prove the ill intent of God towards Man, is actually attempting to use that very object of knowledge, which proves his claim of that realm to be null and void? Indeed science would seem to provide a platform from which one might argue there would be no darkness without light’s coming into being and thus Satan’s self-proclaimed realm only exists in as much as something outside of it allowed it to be a thing in the first place. In this line of reasoning Satan operates from a place designated and chosen specifically by God’s righteousness, thus proving that even Satan does not and cannot act autonomously from God’s plan for the universe and towards Man.
It may be true that Man’s physical eye cannot pierce the darkness of its own accord but neither can Satan claim to have any power over Man while being in the light. We Humans have a phrase that goes, “All Will Be Brought To Light.” This implies that although there may be circumstances at present that we cannot comprehend, there is the belief that nothing can remain hidden forever. If Satan’s realm truly is darkness, it would seem it will come to light sooner or later. And what will become of his realm when it is subjected into this light? Is it not that it will be proven that it is not a realm at all and only the absence of God’s position to it and once His being moves into that space, darkness dissipates like fog before the sun’s rays?
Thus it will come to light that Satan has not taken darkness, but has attempted to usurp that which is also God’s, which he knows full well. He has succeeded, at least partially, in convincing Man due to our incomplete knowledge of what darkness really is. Thus the enemy is only as strong as our ignorance. How do we combat this state of mind? Is it not through mediums of study like science that actually proves the existence and benevolence of our God rather than the reverse?
“You are your fathers the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies,” –John 8:44
