MOMENTS

We barely remember as one moment passes
From the next that slams into our subconscious
Before it fades off into the distance.
It can feel as if we are on a highway and,
Life is tearing past us.
Thoughts…feelings.
Inhale one moment. Exhale another.
Upon the next inhale, you are two
Moments now past the first breath.
But there never is memory of that first
Breath from the womb, That too is
Beyond the scope of our memory.
And so it goes each day, each month, each year
An inhale, the next an exhale and all that is
Left us is the sense that we must have at least
Breathed during some of those moments because
We are still breathing in this moment
Last moment, new moment, endless cycle of fading moments…

  1. One breath to the next keeps leads to new moments. Life is a highway, moments happen so fast, some are too fast for your brain to process and it creates a new story from that moment. This is a great observation Jonathon. Thank you for the great insight. I am excited to see what other insights you will create in the future.

  2. My college years are a prime example of moments gone by that I have forgotten much about. What’s neat is that looking back reminds me how much God has brought me through and how much he will carry me through in the future.

    1. That is a good reminder to all of us, Mark. Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). What I find fascinating is how we are bound by time but our God is outside of time, yet relates to us within the scope of our time. How does that work!?
